Alicia Myers Honored With Living Our Values Recognition

Alicia Myers reflects on teamwork, employee development and putting customers first.

Note: Southeast Regional Sales Manager Alicia Myers was recently selected as the Q2 Living Our Values top honoree, which celebrates employees across the U.S., Mexico and Costa Rica who exemplify R.S. Hughes’ values. Myers has been the driving force behind R.S. Hughes University (RSH-U) and the Elevate R.S. Hughes mentorship program.

A Team Behind the Award Winner

I feel incredibly blessed to have been nominated and to have won. Living our core values is something I wake up every day thinking I do, but it is nice to be recognized for it. I didn’t win the award by myself. There were a ton of people behind me. I have a phenomenal Southeast Region Team. They’re the reason I look good. From Outside Sales and my SupplySight Team to my partnerships with the Customer Care, Sales Support, Inventory Management and Operations Teams, they all play a big part in our success and, specifically, my success. Partnerships with vendors is another thing I am passionate about.

I joke with customers and say, “At the end of the day, I can make as many promises as I want to you, but it’s everybody behind me who executes them.”

Fostering Employee Development

I’ve been incredibly passionate about R.S. Hughes University and the Elevate R.S. Hughes mentorship program. We talk about developing our team and becoming One R.S. Hughes, and those two initiatives make that a reality. They allow people from different parts of the country to come together, share their experiences, share what’s working and what’s not working and have more support than ever, not only from their local team or the person they report to directly, but from all those around us who make the company successful.

The R.S. Hughes Way is truly putting the customer and the company first. It’s all about our customers. It’s about understanding the solutions we can provide them, being nimble and making smart business decisions that create positive customer experiences. I never take a cookie-cutter approach. I want to customize my program to meet their needs. That can only happen by listening closely to the customer’s true needs.
